NUST SCME Guide: School of Chemical and Materials Engineering

SCME (School of Chemical and Materials Engineering) at NUST H-12 offers 2 undergraduate programs: BE Chemical Engineering and BE Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. SCME has dedicated labs for chemical reaction engineering, polymer processing, and materials characterization. Tuition: PKR 197,050/semester. Chemical engineering at SCME competes with Punjab University's program — SCME has the advantage of being at NUST with better research facilities.

What Is SCME?

SCME (School of Chemical and Materials Engineering) is located at NUST H-12 Islamabad. It was established in 2006 and has grown into one of Pakistan's leading chemical engineering schools. SCME houses two departments: Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering.

BE Chemical Engineering at SCME

BE Chemical Engineering covers thermodynamics, reaction engineering, transport phenomena, process design, and separation processes. SCME's chemical engineering program is PEC-accredited under the Washington Accord. Graduates work in fertilizer (Engro, Fauji), oil and gas (OGDCL, PSO), and pharmaceutical industries.

BE Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at SCME

This program covers physical metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, materials characterization, polymer science, and ceramic engineering. It is one of the few metallurgy programs in Pakistan. Graduates work in the steel industry, automotive manufacturing, and aerospace materials sectors.

Research at SCME

SCME has strong research output in nanotechnology, polymer science, and materials characterization. It offers MS and PhD programs in Chemical Engineering, Materials and Surface Engineering, and Nanoscience and Engineering. SCME faculty includes recipients of Pakistan's civil awards.
