NUST is ranked #353 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025, making it the #2 university in Pakistan after the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in some categories. It ranks #74 in QS Asia University Rankings and 601-800 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. US News & World Report ranks NUST at #950 globally.

NUST ranks #127 globally in Engineering & Technology — its strongest subject area. It ranks #143 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which is the best in Pakistan. Computer Science and Information Systems ranks #164 globally. Chemical Engineering is in the top 200. Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Manufacturing Engineering is in the top 250. Civil Engineering is in the top 375. Business and Management Studies is in the top 350. Mathematics is also in the top 350.

Global Recognition and Accreditations

All NUST engineering programs are accredited under the Washington Accord and by PEC (Pakistan Engineering Council). NUST was the first university in Pakistan to achieve ISO 9000 certification. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Association of Universities (IAU). NUST also holds associate membership of CERN.
