Aerospace at SMME Islamabad

SMME's aerospace program was introduced more recently and has a civilian research focus. Students have access to the full H-12 campus experience. The curriculum emphasizes computational fluid dynamics, aerospace materials, and design. Research opportunities are available at the SMME labs including aerodynamics, structure, propulsion and heat transfer, material science, and numerical analysis labs.

Aerospace at CAE Risalpur

CAE's aerospace program has a longer history and strong collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force. Located at PAF Academy Risalpur, the program emphasizes military aircraft technology, flight testing, and defense applications. CAE has 5 major aerospace labs: aerodynamics, structure, propulsion and heat transfer, material science, and numerical analysis. The college has a library with 80,000 technical books.

Career Paths

Aerospace engineers from NUST work at PAF, SUPARCO, aircraft manufacturing and maintenance organizations, and defense contractors. Some pursue MS and PhD abroad in aerospace engineering. The field requires strong mathematics and physics skills.
