How is FAST merit calculated?

FAST merit depends on the program group and whether an A-level result is available. Computing and Business normally use 10% SSC, 40% HSSC and 50% test. Engineering uses 17% SSC, 50% HSSC and 33% test. Awaiting A-level applicants use O-level equivalence for both academic components.

Published formulas and routes

Computing or Business, HSSC/A-level available

10% SSC/O-level + 40% HSSC/A-level + 50% test

Use separate SSC or O-level and HSSC or A-level equivalence percentages.

Computing or Business, A-level result awaiting

50% O-level equivalence + 50% test

FAST uses O-level equivalence for both academic components while the A-level result is unavailable.

Engineering, HSSC/A-level available

17% SSC/O-level + 50% HSSC/A-level + 33% test

Use the Engineering program formula and the relevant equivalence percentages.

Engineering, A-level result awaiting

67% O-level equivalence + 33% test

The Engineering route keeps its 33% test weight. The two academic components use O-level equivalence.

Calculation example

Example: if every component in the selected Computing or Business, HSSC/A-level available route is 80%, the weighted aggregate is 80.00%.
