What Is SEECS and Where Is It Located?

SEECS (School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) is NUST's flagship school for computing and electrical engineering. Located at the H-12 Islamabad campus, SEECS was established in 1999 and was one of the first schools to move to the main campus in 2008. It has been declared a Microsoft Authorized Academic Training Program Institute and has labs established by Intel, IBM, and NCR Corporation.

Undergraduate Programs at SEECS

SEECS offers 6 undergraduate programs. BE Electrical Engineering covers power systems, electronics, telecommunications, and control systems. BE Computer Engineering (Fall 2025 onward) focuses on hardware-software integration, embedded systems, and VLSI design. BE Software Engineering covers software development methodologies, project management, and quality assurance. BS Computer Science is NUST's most competitive program — it covers algorithms, data structures, programming languages, and theory. BS Data Science focuses on statistics, machine learning, and big data analytics. BS Artificial Intelligence covers deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and robotics.

Departments at SEECS

SEECS has 4 academic departments: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Data Science & AI. Each department has PhD-qualified faculty and dedicated research labs.

SEECS Fee and Merit

Tuition at SEECS is PKR 197,050 per semester for all programs. SEECS programs have the highest NET cutoffs in NUST — BS Computer Science and BS AI typically require 80%+ NET score. BE Electrical Engineering requires 77%+. BE Software Engineering and BS Data Science require 75%+. BE Computer Engineering (new program starting Fall 2025) is expected to have competitive merit.

Research and Labs

SEECS has dedicated research labs including the Artificial Intelligence R&D Lab (established in collaboration with the German Research Centre for AI), Information Security Lab, and Data Science Lab. The school also houses the National Centre for Cyber Security. SEECS faculty has produced strong research output, with several faculty members receiving the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.
