What Is ASAB?

ASAB (Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences) is named after Professor Atta-ur-Rahman, a distinguished Pakistani scientist and former chairman of HEC. The school was originally the Center of Virology and Immunology established in 2007, renamed in 2012. It is located at NUST H-12 and focuses on biosciences research and education.

BS Biotechnology at ASAB

BS Biotechnology covers molecular biology, genetic engineering, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and bioprocess technology. It is ASAB's flagship program. Graduates work in pharmaceutical R&D, diagnostics, and research labs.

BS Food Science and Technology at ASAB

BS Food Science covers food chemistry, food microbiology, food processing, quality assurance, and product development. Graduates work in Pakistan's food processing industry at companies like Nestle, Engro Foods, Shan Foods, and FrieslandCampina.

BS Agriculture at ASAB

BS Agriculture covers crop science, soil science, plant protection, agricultural economics, and sustainable farming. It is one of the few agriculture programs offered by a non-traditional agriculture university. Graduates work in agribusiness, research institutes, and NGOs.

Research at ASAB

ASAB has strong research programs at the postgraduate level: MS in Healthcare Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, and Molecular Medicine, plus PhD in Applied Biosciences.
