What Is the Ehsaas Education Scholarship?

The Ehsaas Education Scholarship is a government program that provides financial assistance to deserving students from low-income families. It covers tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend. The program is managed by HEC in collaboration with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). In 2026, the program continues under the expanded BISP framework.

Eligibility Criteria

Family monthly income under PKR 45,000. Minimum 60% marks in the most recent academic exam. Student must be enrolled in an HEC-recognised university or college for an undergraduate program. Pakistani citizenship and a valid CNIC/B-Form. Not receiving any other government scholarship. Preference given to students from underdeveloped districts, female students, and students with disabilities.

Scholarship Amount and Benefits

Tuition fee coverage up to PKR 50,000-100,000 per year (depends on the program and university). Monthly stipend of PKR 4,000 for living expenses. The scholarship is renewable each year based on maintaining a minimum 2.5 CGPA. Book and stationery allowance of PKR 10,000 per year. Recipients also get priority for university hostel accommodation.

How to Apply

Applications open once a year (usually August-September). Fill the online application form on the HEC Ehsaas portal (ehsaas.hec.gov.pk). Required documents: CNIC/B-Form, income certificate, last academic marks sheet, university admission letter, and domicile. After submission, HEC verifies income data through BISP records. Selected students are notified through their university and the portal.

How to Check Your Application Status

Log in to the HEC Ehsaas portal with your application ID. Check under 'Application Status' section. You can also visit the financial aid office at your university. The processing time is 4-8 weeks after the deadline. If shortlisted, you may need to attend a verification interview at your university.
